So I've been laughing discussing Christmas edibles with Laera because there are many of them I don't care for. I think mostly it has to do with the spices involved. I don't care for Gingerbread, Egg Nog, or peppermint (so no candy canes) for instance.

I like chocolate, fruits, nuts (except peanuts). Chocolate fudge made with Fluffernutter and walnuts is a special favorite.

Books: pre 17th century historical novels and science fiction.
Music: Jazz, especially piano and classical.

I'll add if I think of other types of things.

I just had to do this. Seeing the Navy's new Anti-Submarine, reconnaissance and surveillance P-8 aircraft, which is currently under development at Boeing, in Navy colors for the first time makes me so sad that the field here will never get to see them. Actually brought tears to my eyes. We'll be closed under BRAC in March 2011 and my first squadron left here for the last time in June. When they come back from their deployment in the Arabian Gulf they'll be returning to a new home.

For those who don't know my time in Naval Aviation, which was about half of my career in Naval Intelligence, was with the P-3C community.

God six days, crap six! Now? This is not exactly the time I want to be out of town but duty calls, as they say. Plus wonder of wonders they're going to let me fly a Hornet out, although that means I have to fit in a check ride first. Haven't been on that side of it since before I became an instructor. Sheesh I thought I was supposed to be getting NATOPS written not having to study it again. At least I can do it with a laptop and not have to drag one of those manuals around. Although it might be kind of fun to see Laera's reaction to me with that. The paper pusher gets to fly again!

Telly's gonna laugh his ass off when he hears about Laera but damn it will be nice to see him again. Plus I can thank him personally for hooking me up with his parents re the apartment.

Got to remember to leave Laurel a voice mail re the call for next week too and where the hell is my seabag anyway? Shoulda known better then to not have that thing packed, shore tour my ass! At least I know where the wash khakis and the flight boots are. I knew it was a good idea to hang onto the broken in ones.
